Coffee is simply a better and smarter pick than soda. There are an abundance of reasons that it makes sense to switch out soda for coffee. Some of them are obvious but some other reasons are not quite as apparent.
The first step in determining that coffee is better than soda is to simply pick up a can of soda. A good long look at the back of a can of soda should lead you to conclude, and rather promptly, that coffee is a smarter overall pick. It may be true that coffee and soda both have caffeine in them, but that is about where the similarities end. Coffee often has less caffeine than sodas, which sometimes can be shockingly high in caffeine content.
Of course there is also the very important issue of sugar. Soda might as well be called “chemical-sugar water,” for in reality that is exactly what soda happens to be. Most of the sodas on the market are really just liquid mechanisms for the delivery of large amounts of sugar. Look at the back of any soda can, and you will likely be shocked to see how much sugar is in just one can. Coffee doesn’t have this problem, unless you add the sugar yourself. We have all seen the movies and television shows where characters add ridiculous amounts of sugar to their coffee. But that doesn’t mean you need to do it. With coffee you have a choice, but you don’t have a choice with soda.
It is important to note that coffee does not have artificial sweeteners. Many diet soda not only has chemicals, but they are artificial sweeteners that have been the cause of serious medical concern. One easy way to avoid these sweeteners is to simply drink coffee instead of soda. By doing so you can regulate what you are putting in your coffee.
There are many choices available as the beverage market is one of the more competitive markets in the food industry. Yet, with that stated, there is no real room for doubt where the comparison between soda and coffee are concerned. In the end, coffee is the superior pick.
