Nearby residents of a town close to the desert felt that the mans survival was a religous message.
The plant was then named Mocha, after that town.

Ethiopian warriors used it as food while they went on raids.
Coffee migrated to Arabia, and the Arabians began to market coffee in the middle east.
It was the Turkish people that were the first to drink coffee.
The Turks added clove and cinnamon to the coffee to create a sweet taste.
Coffee found its way to Europe via the Venetian trade merchants.
Soon after, coffee houses started to pop up all over Europe as the beverage gained popularity.
